Privacy Policy
This policy explains what data Captus collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It covers both products, Captus Shelf and Captus Proof.
1. Who we are
Captus provides intelligence software for ecommerce teams, built in the UK. For the purposes of UK data protection law, Captus is the data controller for the personal data described here. You can reach us at hello@captusplatform.com.
2. Information we collect
- Account information: name, work email, company and billing details.
- Connected platform data: advertising and performance data from Amazon accounts you connect, and query and citation data from AI answer engines you track.
- Usage data: how you interact with the product, for reliability and improvement.
- Support and communications: messages you send us and their content.
3. How we use information
We use personal data to provide the services, operate and secure the platform, process payments, provide support, and communicate with you about the product. We do not sell personal data.
4. Legal bases
We rely on the following legal bases under UK GDPR: performance of our contract with you, our legitimate interests in operating and improving the services, your consent where required, and compliance with legal obligations.
5. Sharing and third parties
We share data with service providers that help us run Captus, such as hosting, analytics, and payment processing, under contracts that require them to protect it. We also connect to platforms you authorise, including Amazon and AI answer engines. We may disclose data where required by law.
6. Data retention
We keep personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the services, then for the period required to meet legal, accounting or reporting obligations.
7. International transfers
Where data is transferred outside the UK, we use appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, to protect it.
8. Your rights
Subject to UK GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, contact hello@captusplatform.com. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
9. Cookies
We use essential cookies to run the service and, with your consent, limited analytics cookies to understand usage. You can control non-essential cookies through the consent options presented to you.
10. Security
We use technical and organisational measures to protect personal data. No system is perfectly secure, and we encourage you to keep your credentials safe.
